ABOUT LALITA KOLVANKAR

I am an Engineer in training with a passion to become a Professional Structural Engineer. After graduating with a Masters in Civil Engineering (Structures) in 2015, I started working as a Junior Structural Engineer at Stueve Construction. At Stueve, I have a platform to get hands-on experience in the US construction industry. Being an employee at a Design-build firm is to be a part of turn-key projects and experience the challenges at various phases of the project. Working with highly experienced professionals have definitely helped me learn the value of time-management, accuracy, planning, and efficiency.I have learned from my 6+ years of study and some years of experience in this field that there is always something new to be an expert at. The various professional organizations like ASCE, have given young Engineers like me the best inspiration and direction to make the right career choices. My constant effort is to learn new technologies and construction practices. I have achieved a good level of expertise in using AutoCAD, REVIT, RISA3D, Microsoft office products, Bluebeam. The graduate and the undergraduate school offered a lot of courses in design, analysis, management, geotechnical, transportation which helped me prepare my foundation for real projects. In addition to this, I was introduced to US codes and standards. I have been using ASCE07, ACI, AISC, IBC, OSHA, NDS at various stages of a project and to get a better understanding of the design rules and regulations. I am always up for learning new things, take up new challenges and to start small to achieve the big goals eventually!
