ABOUT LALITA ABHYANKAR
I am a family medicine physician interested in redesigning primary care through technology integration. The goal is to enable family physicians to extend their capacity for sustainable, relational continuity of care. Since 2017, I have provided full spectrum outpatient family medicine in urban underserved and suburban settings. My background is also in designing EHR improvements, identifying care gaps in geriatric care, decreasing time spent on chart review, expanding and developing best practices for telemedicine among at-risk and underserved patients during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brooklyn, NY, and advocating for equitable development of technology for patients and physicians. My interests include health policy education through media and journalism. In 2021, I released a podcast under the Health Affairs banner exploring the impact of consolidation in health care on independent primary care practices in the United States. I am involved in educating and mentoring medical students interested in family medicine as a specialty, and am currently a Volunteer Clinical Professor at UCSF. My clinical experience includes pediatrics, geriatrics, gender affirming care, prenatal care, postpartum care, mental health, menopause care, and HIV care.
