About Lakeia Nard
My son King’nazir was just three years old when he was diagnosed with a rare disease called SPTLC2. SPTLC2 falls under the category of Pediatric ALS umbrella. We was told he was the second kid diagnosed in the world, making him the first boy of this gene mutation. After being misdiagnosed three times and flown out to the National Institution of Health (NIH). I was left with no answers, outlets, resources, cures/treatments and racial disparities. I knew then I did not want another family to through this alone like I did. That is when Melanin Children Matter Inc was born.
