ABOUT LAKBIR SINGH

I am an international business leader and strategic advisor focused on strengthening economic, educational and cultural collaboration between the United Kingdom and India.With more than 25 years of experience across international business, education partnerships, trade development and community engagement, my work sits at the intersection of diplomacy, enterprise and education. I am passionate about creating meaningful global partnerships that deliver long-term impact for organisations, institutions and communities.I currently serve as Chief Operating Officer at the India Business Group (IBG), a UK-based strategic advisory organisation supporting businesses, universities and institutions in developing partnerships across the UK, India, Europe and the Middle East. Through this work, I help facilitate international trade, market expansion, education collaborations and strategic partnerships that unlock opportunities across borders.A key focus of my work is international education mobility and global collaboration. I work closely with universities, colleges and education institutions to develop programmes that provide students with international exposure, cultural understanding and the skills needed to succeed in a globally connected world.In recognition of my contribution to strengthening sports, education and cultural ties between the UK and India, I received the Special Recognition Award at the British Asian Media Awards. I was also honoured with an Honorary Fellowship from Southampton Solent University and later appointed Professor of Practice in International Relations.Alongside my professional work, I actively support business and community initiatives and have held advisory and ambassadorial roles with organisations including the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, Southampton Chamber of Commerce, Solent Local Enterprise Partnership and international business and education organisations.I believe strongly in building partnerships that create opportunity, connecting people, institutions and businesses to drive economic growth, education collaboration and cultural understanding across borders.Areas of focus include:• UK–India trade and strategic partnerships • International education and global mobility programmes • Cross-border business development and market expansion • University, government and industry collaboration • International sports and cultural partnerships • Community engagement and inclusive business leadership
