ABOUT LAITH JAAFAR

Hi there! I’m Laith, a passionate HR professional with a strong foundation in equity, diversity, and inclusion. With a background in law and HR, I’m driven to make workplaces more inclusive and supportive for everyone. Whether it’s advocating for inclusion or delivering learning events to promote empathy and understanding, I’m committed to bringing people together and making a positive difference.I worked as a HR Advisor at Co-op, where I provided high-quality support across the employee lifecycle and co-chaired Respect, its LGBTQ+ colleague network. Through Respect, I led initiatives that amplified diverse voices and fostered meaningful discussions on LGBTQ+ issues. Highlights included coordinating lunch-and-learn sessions and developing award ceremonies that celebrated the contributions of LGBTQ+ colleagues - work that brought our workplace community together.My journey into advocacy began as a student leader and trustee at Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union, where I represented students. This was an eye-opening experience that shaped my passion for student mental health and equality, especially during the unique challenges of the pandemic. I’ve carried this commitment forward in every role, from developing widening participation programmes to leading research on trans-inclusive policies.Alongside my hands-on experience, I hold a CIPD Level 7 Diploma and a master’s degree in HR Management, with a focus on trans and non-binary inclusion policies. I’m excited to keep growing in the EDI and L&D space, helping organisations foster inclusive cultures that empower all employees to thrive.I’m always looking to connect with like-minded professionals, exchange ideas, and explore new ways to make workplaces more welcoming and equitable.
