ABOUT LAI-CHING WOOD
I am an enterprise transformation leader who bridges business and technology to deliver impactful change initiatives. I have nearly fifteen years experience in developing and implementing new digital technology platforms and policies within the global banking industry to deliver positive business-aligned change goals. The start of my career was focused on providing advice and client interactions, which has given me valuable first-hand insight into the needs and requirements of Relationship Managers and Financial Advisors. This unique perspective has enabled me to leverage my practical knowledge and experience to develop a deeper understanding and comprehension of the needs of the business and the technical solutions required to achieve critical business targets.Having joined HSBC in 2011 as an International Relationship Manager in Hong Kong, I transitioned to become a subject matter expert for the transformational launch of a new digital platform, liaising across the business and IT in gathering and defining requirements and managing relationships across the Technology and Business Services Division. This initiative led to my subsequent promotion to Global Head of Wealth Platform Solutions, taking full ownership for the new Wealth Platform and the main point of contact for IT and business lines.Relocating to London in 2016, my role grew, and I became globally responsible for International Business Services, tasked with quickly defining and implementing a global strategy for a new cross-border proposition. During this period, I worked with consultants to build a platform which enabled front line to quickly identify what transactions were permitted on a cross-border basis. In 2019 I moved to Private Bank to develop and deliver a clear strategic vision for global client reporting capabilities. A core focus of this transformation initiative was to ensure an exceptional client experience whilst adhering to legal and regulatory requirements. In 2020 I was asked to tackle the potential for reputational risk within Financial Redress Delivery, responsible for avoiding potential fines to the bank for non-compliance. This challenging role was extremely time-sensitive, and I achieved success driving numerous transformation projects. After taking a transitional role, and returning from maternity leave, I am now Global Head of Model Transformation as part of the Wealth and Private Bank merger. I lead the key workstreams for fair value exchange and product governance policies and frameworks, to enable a seamless transition for clients across the segments.
