In India Hitachi Energy is listed in BSE and NSE and having a market capitalization of around 7 Billion US Dollars. We also have a large global capability cerntre (with plus employees) in India that provides engineering and other corporate support services to Hitachi entities globally. I am responsible for tax aspects of all the legal entities in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Africa. After joining in March 2020, I led the tax streamlining efforts post demerger, managing new relationships internally and externally, developing transfer pricing policies, and optimizing cross-border transactions. Over the last 5 years, I have successfully obtained Rs. 400 crores (USD 50 Million) GST refund, being part of fund raising team for a QIP, structured large multi-country EPC contracts, defended tax positions in audits and optimized transfer pricing strategies. Other highlights include M&A, tax assessments and appeals (including in High Court), obtaining tax rulings in South Africa, managing related party transactions, advisory on permanent establishment and employee movement to various countries.
