ABOUT LAËTITIA PERNOD
I currently hold an Associate Professor position at Ecole Centrale de Nantes, that offers advanced training programs in maritime and paramaritime industries for top level engineers and collaborates with the best universities of the world. As such, I am an active member of the dynamic and competitive research team of the Laboratory of Hydrodynamics, Energetic and Atmospheric Environment (LHEEA, UMR 6598). With a Ph.D in fluid dynamics, I have a wide-ranging expertise in hydrodynamics, fluid-structure interactions, numerical modelling (particularly CFD) and experimental investigation. Current research areas include:(i) the numerical and experimental characterization of unsteady turbulent viscous flows, potentially subjected to hydrodynamic sources of excitation such as vortex-shedding, laminar to turbulent transition and/or stall. Moderate to strong free-surface effects (e.g ventilation on marine lifting surfaces) are also investigated. For this purpose, the flow patterns and the velocities and pressure fields are studied using joint numerical - experimental techniques;(ii) the investigation of fluid-structure interaction effects of flexible marine litfing surfaces, which involves the study of the aero-hydroelastic response of structures subjected to flow-induced loads and vibrations, and strong multi-physical coupling. The application fields are naval & offshore engineering, vibration & sound mitigation of lifting surfaces in the marine industry (propellers, appendages, turbine blades, etc.), wind-propulsion for the decarbonisation of the maritime transport, and marine renewable energies. Furthermore, as a lecturer, I strive to empower and educate students so that they may thrive with professionnal success and become accomplished citizens. Indeed, alongside scientific research, I\'m also passionate about philosophy, geopolitics & economics, humanitarian rights and ecology. Thus, I strongly advocate for intercultural exchanges and interdisciplinary collaboration with a broad spectrum of expertise - from engineering to sociology and history - to bring about social equity, pacifism and social and environnmental justice. To this end, I am fully committed to promoting social-ethnic-gender diversity and eco-friendly, socially responsible practices in academia and industry. I am excited to collaborate with professionals and organizations that share my passion and welcome the opporunity to explore new ways of reducing our carbon footprint, driving sustainable innovations in the maritime industry and promoting social equity and justice.
