ABOUT LUIS SILVA

I am a Senior Data Engineer focusing on Big data and the Azure tech stack. Over the past few years I have been involved in ETL design and implementation for clients that range from small private companies to large Government organizations. I have also been involved in software integration (AWS stack) and Data privacy.My primary training is in physics and non-linear optimization and I completed two post-doctoral research contracts with some of the biggest universities in the UK. My field of research was in geodynamics and geomagnetism which entails the analysis of numerical spatial data and time-series, statistical modelling of said data, numerical modelling of the underlying physics and generation of insight into the systems being studied. This gave me 6 years experience in numerical modelling, data analysis and forecasting and a variety of IT skills ranging from computer programming (fortran, C), scripting (bash, perl), prototyping (matlab, excel) and high performance parallel computing (MPI, openmp, map-reduce). I have worked with both real data (time series analysis, principal component/empirical mode decomposition) and model data (volumetric numerical data, 3D visualisation, filtering, spectral decomposition).The background image was generated by me and is from one of my calculations.
