About Lacey Buck

I cultivate experiences and connections that bring people together – both in place and in purpose. When you Google the word “community” two definitions pop up. The first: “a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.” Accurate? Sure. Uninspiring? Extremely. Community engagement efforts often hit a wall and never break through to that sweet spot captured by the second definition: “a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.” I believe that every single member of a community brings something unique and valuable to the table, and that a diversity of thought and experience is essential to overcoming the difficult challenges that face us today. When it feels like we are more divided than ever, we must focus on what brings us together. I have held a variety of roles in my career so far but in each position I have found the chance to create a connection. Whether I invite people to share a meal, take in a show, or work together to solve a problem, these experiences become a forum to cultivate new friendships and strengthen the bonds of a team or community. As a recovering competitive distance swimmer, I have literally gone the extra mile to get the job done and I am most fulfilled when I am part of a team full of positive attitudes and strong work ethics. When I\'m not out in the community building relationships, I like to surf (novice), sample the best Portland restaurants (expert), and continue my quest for new and unnecessary culinary gadgets to shove into my bulging kitchen drawers (someone please help, I can’t stop myself).
