About Quata Sumter
STEAM Thru Drones takes STEM education to new heights—literally.I started this company because I saw a gap—students, especially in underrepresented communities, lacked hands-on access to cutting-edge technology. I knew drones weren’t just toys; they were gateways to careers in engineering, coding, and aviation. Schools wanted to introduce drones but didn’t know where to start. So, I built STEAM Thru Drones to make it simple, fun, and impactful.Fast forward: We\'ve empowered thousands of students and educators with drone-based learning. Our curriculum is in classrooms, our programs train teachers to confidently lead, and we’re opening doors to STEM careers for the next generation. I’ve trained educators nationwide, built drone education partnerships, and even led FAA Part 107 prep for high schoolers.Before this, I spent 15+ years teaching tech, earned a PhD in Learning Technologies, and became the first African American woman in Southwest Georgia to hold an FAA Part 107 license. Oh, and I also interned with the CIA—so yeah, drones and I go way back.Beyond work? I geek out over robotics, love a well-crafted planner (even if I still run on organized chaos), and believe music is fuel for the soul. My personal mission? Make STEM education accessible anywhere—urban or rural, privileged or underserved. If we can teach kids to fly drones and understand Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep Learning today, we can help them launch careers tomorrow.So, let’s build something together.
