ABOUT L. LEN DELONY

Especially rooted in my personal struggles and healing from cancer while a patient at St. Jude Children’s Hospital, my calling is to help people become more present and open to a \"hidden wholeness” beneath the struggles. In sharp contrast to fearful reactions to being vulnerable and frantic attempts to be in control by \"fight-or-flight”, when we become mindfully grounded in a sacred trust and experience a deep sense of peace, we are more likely to respond to difficulties from a deeper, soulful strength. That comes from a deep, heart-felt courage that is found both within and beyond. Responding from such a depth, spiritual and physical healing are often facilitated, and people are more likely to notice what is most important in their life. The ancient, contemplative traditions of spiritual direction and discernment have emerged as a meaningful way to explore personal experiences and discern how healing, wholeness and newfound purpose can lead into a more grateful, purposeful, and creative life. I hav been a hospital chaplain in University of Chicago Children\'s Hospital specializing in Oncology, a Psychiatric and Addictions Treatment chaplain at Harris HEB, and Hospice Chaplain at Community Hospice of North Texas. I have been happily married since 1981 to Rev. Dr. Rebekah Miles, professor of ethics and practical theology, and two delightful daughters who recently graduated form Oklahoma City University and Southern Methodist university. The objective of my calling is to facilitate times of \"sacred trust\" for deep listening and support. This relationship of soul-care and spiritual guidance provides opportunities for \"living into the questions\" at the most important, grace-filled levels, especially in times of great change and uncertainty. Through facilitating prayerful, deep listening, I aim to help people be less anxiously distracted and driven. Instead, I aim to enable people to be more mindfully present and deeply connected to a more graceful, flowing and soulfully transforming perspective in spacious \"kairos-time\".
