ABOUT KYRIE MCBRIDE

My story begins in Toronto. It is the days of Joe Carter hitting the biggest homerun of his life, John Candy taking home the Grey Cup, Wendel Clark getting the C and the NBA announcing expansions into Canada. Formative years in Canadian sports history but also in the life of young sports loving kids.like me. From throwing baseball\'s with my dad in the backyard, to early mornings at the pool or yelling \"car\" until the street lights came on, I can\'t remember a time when sports wasn\'t in my life.From a young age, school acted as a catalyst for even more sports. My days as an athlete peaked in high school which meant I needed an alternate plan to \"go pro\". University bridged that gap. My new angle into sports was a degree in Radio and Television. Focusing on operating cameras alongside producing and reporting, allowed me to see sports from exactly the new angles I needed. The real work started in broadcasting. My days in TV began by moving boxes and labeling beta tapes. My days in the archives department at Sportsnet helped me further expand my sports knowledge, and allowed me to support others in their story telling journeys.My own journey continued to grow during this time. Alongside opportunities in broadcasting, I also gained experience with professional sports teams. The Toronto Blue Jays, Maple Leafs, Rock as well as Buffalo Bills gave me an in. The minute I stopped running through the six like a kid in a candy shop, was the moment I got the call to head down the road to Hamilton to work in hockey. Working within the American Hockey League (AHL) meant wearing many hats. Those hats allowed me to tell stories in arena and on the web while working closely with the team, the fans and the media. After a few seasons in hockey, I left behind Canada\'s game for Canada\'s league. Much like the AHL, the Canadian Football League (CFL) gave me an opportunity to become a Jill-of-all-Trades. As a Toronto Argonaut, I was in the huddle from day one. Although I could not lace up cleats and step out onto the gridiron, my heels and I found a home on the sidelines. My inability to run routes or make tackles meant my version of a playbook looked a bit different. It was here that I earned my stripes and proved I had what it took to \"go pro\".My next chapter brought me the coolest title yet - the one of a NBA Champion. With the best seat in the house during all home games as I produce a show and cheer on my hometown team, my years with the Toronto Raptors allowed me to orchestrate many franchise firsts and marquee moments both in-arena and outside of it.
