As a mentor for engineering students, I provided academic and career guidance to help them build confidence and feel supported within the program. I focused on creating a sense of community and empowering students to navigate challenges successfully.In addition to mentoring, I represented Women in Engineering at various events, advocating for inclusion and encouraging more women to pursue careers in STEM. Through these initiatives, I worked to foster a welcoming environment and promote diversity within the engineering field.

ABOUT KYLIE LARETEI

My name is Kylie Laretei and I am a student at McMaster University currently pursuing a degree in civil engineering co-op. My journey began with a love for team sports, which instilled in me the value of collaboration and the desire to make the world a more efficient place.Growing up in Oakville, I worked as a sailing instructor, which fueled my passion for environmental protection. Witnessing the fluctuating water levels of Lake Ontario due to climate change inspired me to pursue a career in civil engineering.Throughout my studies, I have explored various fields including structural, transportation, geotechnical, and environmental engineering. My enthusiasm for these areas continues to grow as I expand my knowledge and skills.In addition to my academic pursuits, I serve as the Director of Administration for the Civil Engineering Society at McMaster, where I utilize my organizational and time management skills to represent the student body effectively. As a member of the McMaster Steel Bridge Team, I have honed my CAD and design skills, as well as my abilities in collaboration and problem-solving.During my time as a Student Project Coordinator at Amico Affiliates, I applied my organizational, collaborative, and management skills while gaining deeper insights into the construction industry.
