About Kylie Lally
My ultimate career goal is to work for the UN or a similar organization, where I can serve, aid, and help develop healthy governance systems for those that need it most. My career and personal interests focus on equity-based issues, especially pertaining to education, women\'s rights, poverty reduction, animal welfare, and human rights, on an international scale and also at the domestic level within the United States. Recently served as a Staff Assistant in the Office of Representative Anthony Brown (MD-04) at the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, DC. Prior Hill experience includes serving as a Congressional Intern for U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen in Washington, DC with additional legislative experience at the state level as a Legislative Intern in the Maryland Senate. In the past, I held positions with several nonprofits such as the National Crime Prevention Council, the Epilepsy Foundation, and The Borgen Project. Additionally, I have legal experience interning at the Peroutka Law Group in Maryland. Master of Public Policy student at the University of Maryland in College Park. I have completed my capstone project working with the World Bank to develop a Psychological Framework of Poverty through two in-depth systemic literature reviews. I will graduate with my MPP in May 2023. In May 2020 I graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Government & Politics, specializing in International Relations, along with Global Poverty & Public Leadership minors. I am proficient in Spanish, previously minoring in Spanish and learning the language since grammar school. As a member of Sigma Kappa, I frequently participated in service work and philanthropic initiatives, serving diverse communities in issue areas of poverty, public health, education, and sustainability. I have held several leadership positions within the sorority and on campus as an undergraduate and graduate student. I also served as a Student Mentor in Prince George\'s County as a leader and assistant educator for underprivileged students, fueling my interest in racial and economic equity, especially for children. I am passionate about eradicating social injustices and advocating for equitable causes. I hope to use my passions to serve abroad through international development and aid. I seek to use my unique passions as an individual to expand my knowledge and experience as a young professional.
