ABOUT KYLE SHEARER

As Director of Event Operations at TED, I direct the strategy, design, and delivery of global experiences that do more than inspire — they move people to action. With nearly two decades in the events industry, I focus on creating environments that are thoughtful, inclusive, and purpose-driven, while ensuring they are strategically and financially sound. My role encompasses event strategy, space and experience design, destination procurement, and production oversight. I set direction in partnership with TED’s executive leadership on financial planning and operational frameworks, oversee sizeable P & Ls across our global events, and lead a talented team of managers and specialists. I approach this work with an eye toward innovation — rethinking how events are designed and delivered to connect creativity with discipline, and vision with execution. I co-developed and continue to lead TED’s sustainability program in collaboration with colleagues across the organization, embedding climate responsibility into every decision and advancing practices that have been recognized across the industry. I also oversee accessibility efforts, ensuring inclusivity is a cornerstone of event design, and champion community partnerships and climate grants that extend TED’s impact far beyond the stage. At the heart of it, I believe events are powerful vehicles for change. My goal is to reimagine how large-scale gatherings are designed, financed, and experienced so they leave a lasting impression — not only on the people in the room, but on the communities and world around them. Based in Vancouver, I draw inspiration from architecture, design, and the natural world. Outside of work, I’m often traveling, exploring new food spots, or spending time with my Bernedoodle, Ollie.
