About Kyle Phillips

Software engineer and creative building end-to-end — from training ML models to designing the interfaces that make AI usable by anyone. Over nearly a decade at Google Creative Lab, the experiments I\'ve built have become products used by millions, the prototypes have become team-owned platforms.The projects I\'m most proud of sit in the space between technical possibility and human need. Teachable Machine lets anyone train an ML model with no code — I architected its interface, implemented the transfer learning and hold a patent for the node-based classification system at its core. Creatability, which won the Cannes Grand Prix for Design, is a library of open-source assistive interfaces I built with the disability community using TensorFlow.js and PoseNet. More recently, I created the Gemini Live API Web Console — one of the most popular open-source projects in Google\'s Gemini organization — and have contributed demos for several major model launches.The through-line across all of it is the work that happens in the messy middle, translating between researchers, designers, and business teams when the idea is still taking shape, and turning that ambiguity into something that ships. That translation work is deeply human. I think the boundaries between \"creative\" and \"engineer\" are collapsing, and my career has been a long argument that they were always artificial.
