As Department Manager for the Civil/Structural group in the Transmission and Distribution Division I am responsible for coordinating project assignments, training over fifty engineers and designers and developing and maintaining design standards and specifications. I also serve as Project Manager specializing in the design of both substations and overhead transmission lines. Specific substation design responsibilities include design of site grading, steel structures, oil containment systems, a variety of foundations including spread footings, slabs on grade and drilled shafts. I also coordinate and perform quality control reviews of design calculations, specifications, contracts and drawings. Transmission line design responsibilities include development of structure loading diagrams, line routing, conductor sag tension calculations, foundation design, and line modeling with PLS-CADD and other in-house design programs.
