The Staff Historian/Cultural Resources Specialist leads and supports historic resource studies, surveys and archival research.Duties include-Leading architectural resource documentation projects with oversight and support of Senior Historian and Junior Staff (i.e. collecting field data)-Writing architectural descriptions-Evaluating resources for NRHP eligibility-Preparing technical reports for a variety of geographic locations-Conducts historic-age architecture surveys for regulatory compliance (including data gathering and photography)-Conducts archival research into census records, chain of title, and other primary source materials-Composes architectural descriptions and historic contexts for survey reports and preservation planning documents-Familiarity with the Antiquities Code of Texas, the National Historic Preservation Act (including Section 106), the National Environmental Policy Act, and requirements of other Federal regulatory agencies such as the FHWA, USACE, DOE, EPA, BLM, etc-Conducts both small- and large-scale field surveys and associated reporting efforts.
