The RTGS Renewal Programme is the Bank of England’s largest ever programme of change, tasked with replacing a 30-year-old piece of critical national infrastructure. Responsibility was to lead and manage the readiness and preparation activities for 17 Technology teams comprising of over 150 staff. Managed a team of 3 consultants and led the activities of 25 more. Key successes were: • Planned, ran, and owned a large-scale FinTech / Payment System training and knowledge transfer programme to upskill 80 critical technical engineers. • Owned the internal readiness risk management strategy and the implementation of all mitigation plans.• Managed the relationship between the third-party technology partner and the Bank’s technology teams to ensure the new world-leading payment system was sufficiently tested and understood by internal staff. • Managed the transition for the 24/7 out-of-hours team to the new ways of working which included ensuring 25 shift personnel were adequately trained, equipped, and confident in monitoring and maintaining the system outside business hours. • Conducted significant impact analysis to identify the scale of the change for individual teams and owned the delivery whilst continuously reporting progress to various executive committees and forums. • Steered a budget of over £400k to provide external training certifications to highly skilled engineers. • Established a new end-to-end support model which comprised of 20 teams and outlined how Business and Technology functions will work and communicate with each other to support the new system(s).• Evidenced readiness by tracking progress against formal criteria and measured user confidence via a series of recognised best-practice survey rounds (ADKAR).
