About Kyle Lubrano Satola
Athlete safety is not a checklist. And it’s not just a compliance function. It is one of the most direct drivers of risk, claims, and the long-term cost of sport.I didn’t start in insurance. My background is in sport across national governing bodies, coaching education, sport development, and working directly with coaches and athletes. I’ve seen how organizations actually operate day-to-day, where breakdowns happen, and how well-intentioned policies fail in real environments. That experience shaped how I think about safety: not as theory, but as something that has to work inside real programs, with real people, under real constraints.I later moved into insurance and risk, where I saw the other side of the equation — how those same breakdowns show up as incidents, claims, rising costs, and in some cases, organizations losing access to coverage altogether. That intersection is where I focus today.I work with national governing bodies, youth sports organizations, and insurers to connect what happens on the field and inside organizations to:– incident frequency and severity– claims outcomes– insurance availability and pricing– long-term access to sport for athletes and familiesMost organizations still treat athlete safety as separate from business operations. It’s not. When safety systems are weak:– incidents escalate instead of being addressed early– claims become more complex and more expensive– insurance costs rise or coverage disappearsWhen safety is operationalized effectively:– risk is identified and managed earlier– incidents are handled before becoming claims– organizations become more stable, insurable, and sustainableMy work focuses on translating policy, regulation, and best practices into real-world systems across:– background checks and compliance– education and behavior change– reporting and responseAnd connecting that work directly to underwriting, pricing, and claims strategy.Because athlete safety is not just about doing the right thing. It’s what allows organizations to stay insurable, control costs, and ultimately keep sports accessible to kids.
