Lead substation physical design/project efforts spanning across multiple projects simultaneously. Responsible for leading a project through its entire lifecycle from from generating a scope of work and estimate to construction completion. • Mentor less experienced engineers and designers. Oversees and reviews the work of fellow team members to ensure quality. • Create detailed scopes of the physical design portion of high voltage substation projects with the purpose of outlining all aims/goals the project may look to achieve. Responsible for collaborating with various stakeholders, project estimating, material forecasting, and overall constructability. • Utilize 3D modeling software, MicroStation Connect, to design and assemble drawing sets for construction of high voltage (12kV-345kV) substations. • Principal physical design work includes, but is not limited to, the installation/modification of breakers, insulators, wiring connections, conduit/grounding plans and all types of transformers. • Perform substation grounding, shielding (lightning), and lighting studies utilizing CDEGS, MicroStation Connect, and Visual Lighting softwares. • Create and maintain a Bill of Materials to ensure all equipment is delivered on site in a timely and accurate function. • Working knowledge of reading and understanding project scopes to successfully create a unique design solution while collaborating with Civil and Protection + Control (P&C) engineers to ensure a complete station design. • Responsible for maintaining compliance with client and industry standards/practices from initial scope through construction completion. • Responsible for being cognizant of project budgets and deadlines to complete the design in a timely and efficient manner for internal QA/QC and client review.
