About Kyle Lansden

I am a proud Indigenous, trilingual educator based in Seattle, WA. I graduated from Gonzaga University in 2014 with a B.A. in Spanish along with completing extensive coursework in the sciences. I lived in the Dominican Republic from 2014 to 2016 volunteering with Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos with roles in health, education, and child development. My principal roles were being an English teacher and director of tutoring programs, in-country coordinator for the Santa Maria Cancer Program, and water therapist for children with disabilities. In 2016 I began my Master\'s of Elementary Education program through the University of Notre Dame\'s Alliance for Catholic Education Teaching Fellows program. I lived in Oklahoma City for two years and taught third grade. In 2018 I began working for Highline Public Schools in Burien, WA as a Spanish dual-language teacher after achieving ACTFL scores of advanced high oral proficiency and advanced mid writing proficiency. I served as a floating teacher for six months before moving to Curitiba, Brazil in 2019 as an English Teaching Assistant with the Fulbright Program at FAE Centro Universitário. I led various didactic activities to help improve students\' English, taught a section of beginning-level English to students in the Letras Inglês-Português course of study, and gave various lectures in English and Portuguese around US culture and instructional practices. I achieved a score advanced superior in writing and speaking according to the Brazilian government\'s only recognized Portuguese fluency test (CELPE-Bras). I returned to Seattle, in 2020 to continue working with Highline Public Schools. I took over a third grade class for the remainder of the 20••••21 school year before being hired on full-time as a fourth grade Spanish dual-language teacher starting the 20••••22 academic year. I am a team player dedicated to collaborating and learning from colleagues. I demonstrate my leadership abilities through being a school-based union representative and sit as the acting secretary of Fauntleroy Terrace\'s HOA board. I am dedicated to working for and with others, to uplifting the most vulnerable, passionately pursuing equity for all, and actively learning about how I can make my greatest passions meet the world\'s greatest needs.
