ABOUT KYLE FIORE LAW

PhD Candidate in Social Psychology trying to make the world a better place by studying the cognitive, affective, and moral architecture of exceptional forms of altruism and impartial care (e.g, effective altruism, organ donation, longtermism). Research: What features of the mind promote impartial regard for the welfare and well-being of others across social, geographic and temporal boundaries? How can we harness insights from cognitive, affective, and moral psychology, behavioral neuroscience, and ethical philosophy to promote greater welfare and well-being for humanity now and into the distant future? How can the greatest challenges that stand in the way of human flourishing now and into the future (e.g, climate change, global poverty, pandemic disease, AI) be mitigated through the individual and collective actions of people in the present day? My research primarily address questions like these applying advanced quantitative and qualitative methodology. Teaching: I have extensive experience teaching at the undergraduate level across institutions such as Vassar College, Siena College, The College of Saint Rose, and SUNY Albany. I primarily teach statistics to psychology, public health, economics, sociology, philosophy, nursing, computer science, and environmental science students. I also sometimes teach social psychology, introduction to psychology, and industrial-organizational psychology. I enjoy breaking through the apprehension many social science students have surrounding mathematics and garnering interest in and appreciation for quantitative, statistical, and experimental methods. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re interested in learning more about my research or have interest in collaborating!
