About Kyla Fallis

I am a freshman at The Ohio State University, majoring in environmental engineering with a minor in Science and Engineering in the Public Interest.But what do I actually do? Education is a very small part of what makes you human, and I do my best to go far beyond the limits of a classroom. I\'m involved in student government, where I organize events focused on sustainability and work towards making our campus net-zero. I\'ve competed among 200 teams HACK OHI\\O, creating a full-stack image segmentation ML model focused on sorting waste before it enters landfills. I\'ve published research on my invention, a lamp powered entirely by compost. I\'ve competed at a national level with my research on microbial fuel cells. Alongside that, I\'m working with researchers all over the world focused on using technology to create sustainable solutions of tomorrow. Turning back from technology will not solve our problems, but embracing it and working alongside it to divert climate change could be the solution we are looking for.
