ABOUT KYLA VAN MAANEN
Skilled project and program manager with seven years of experience working with research, nonprofit, and academic organizations. I am passionate about increasing the impact of small (and mighty!) mission-driven teams and facilitating creative, interdisciplinary collaboration for environmental research and conservation. Before returning to school to study marine biology, I worked for 5 years in the art industry in Los Angeles. I am a practicing artist, most recently working with my Dad\'s old Canon AE-1 and 35mm film. My photos reinterpret biological detail and geographical scale, cataloging fieldwork and exploration into a personalized natural history. I spend much of my time thinking about how artists and scientists can co-create visions of, and pathways for, a sustainable future for the planet.
