About Kyla Menconi

Hello! I’m Kyla Menconi, a fourth-year student at the University of San Francisco, where I major in Politics with minors in European Studies and French Studies. I’ve always been passionate about using policy and diplomacy to drive change, especially in advancing women’s rights and representation globally. My journey so far has taken me from classrooms in San Francisco to the heart of international diplomacy in Geneva, Switzerland, where I studied global affairs through SIT’s Multilateral Diplomacy program. Back at USF, I’ve leaned into courses like International Law and Peace and Stability that have helped shape how I think about justice, power, and equity on a global scale. Outside the classroom, I love building community and taking action. I founded the first IGNITE chapter at USF to support young women in stepping into political leadership, and I’ve been lucky to serve on its executive board for the past two years. I’ve also written for the USF Foghorn, served on the executive board of the Women in Pre-Law Society, and competed on USF’s award-winning debate team. Professionally, I’ve gained experience as a legislative intern in Congressman Mark DeSaulnier’s office in D.C. and as a Bay Area Fellow with IGNITE National. These experiences, though very different, both showed me how critical representation and advocacy are in shaping meaningful policy. I am expected to graduate in Spring 2026 and pursue a master’s in international affairs, and I’m more motivated than ever to keep learning and working toward a more equitable world.
