In its rawest form, Restorative Justice seeks to repair harm. It recognizes the human nature of making mistakes as well as our intuitive need for belonging. Conflict and harm can cause pain and separation, which makes repair difficult and healing stunted. Lack of accountability leaves people in cycles of harm without actions to restore right relationship with community and with each other. Restorative Justice creates space for people to share their stories, get their needs met, create real accountability, and humanize each other in the process.

ABOUT KUSUM CRIMMEL
My work is to inspire people to live more deeply and firmly into centered accountability and integrity, deepening into empathy and accessing higher levels of joy and embodied love. I\'m a facilitator of transformational change and I create space for truth,(re)conciliation, and healing to reclaim our humanity and the humanity of others. I spent nearly two decades working with teenagers in non-profits and public schools. Eleven of those years were spent at Oakland Tech High School where I built a vibrant and highly acclaimed, peer-based Restorative Justice program. Although I no longer do clinical work, I have an LCSW, along with 10 years of experience as a rape-crisis counselor with San Francisco Women Against Rape and more than 9 years of training with Generative Somatics, expanding my understanding of trauma and the impact of interpersonal, generational and socially pervasive trauma (racism, sexism, homophobia, classism, etc.). My healing practice is woven into all the work I do and is integral to how I approach life. I\'m a co-lead with the teen program at Heart & Soul Center of Light and an active prayer practitioner, shaping the divine through word seed and vision. I\'m a founding member of Facing In, a consulting collective of restorative justice practitioners, as well as a board member with The People\'s Conservatory, a youth arts organization in the Bay Area. I recently launched Dissecting Whiteness as a business and on-line platform, currently engaged in creative projects aimed at healing white sociopathy and building a new cultural path for European descendents.
