About Kurt Santana

With a decade of customer service experience in various markets such as hospitality, retail, as well as the arts and culture sector, I consider myself a specialist in customer engagement and conflict resolution. Since 2019, it has been my career goal to develop and facilitate public programs that promote artistic inquiry and community building to marginalized communities. This ambitious aspiration came from my apprenticeship as a museum educator at the Rubin Museum of Art. Before then, I adjusted to fast paced work environments while also honing in on my information gathering skills at fine dining establishments. I was able to leverage these skills towards transition into a more creative field. In a short amount of time I was promoted from a creative intern to a content strategist position. I never imagined I\'d have any business setting foot in any of the skyscrapers that made up the Chicago skyline, yet I ended up having the owners of such buildings as some of my clients. As a burgeoning creative I decided to relocate to New York City to pursue opportunities at museums. When I wasn\'t driving throughout the five boroughs delivering kegs to local businesses, I was assisting the public programs department at the Rubin. Communicating with artists and everyday visitors about art from the Himalayas, taught me that bridging through cultural thresholds takes more than dissemination. It takes an altruistic approach toward scientific and artistic inquiry to provide impactful education. I learned this first hand as a facilitator at Exploratorium in San Francisco. There I provided program development services, as well as direct engagement with visitors using the laboratory\'s unique pedagogy. No matter one\'s relationship to art or science, they deserve to reach an \"Aha\" on their own terms.I\'ve since relocated to Seattle hoping to continue work at cultural institutions. As I search for opportunities to build a career, I\'ve realized that the time to develop a career flies like an arrow and the necessity for benefits from a full-time job is at an all time high. Yet, I continue to search for jobs that provide a lasting impact to the community to which I reside.
