ABOUT KURTIS LEINWEBER

I\'ve been fortunate to have had many opportunities to learn and serve in teaching and leadership roles in some of the most distinctive and and fabulous educational environments. I spent two years in the rural Alberta village of Rosemary as a jr. high science teacher and K-12 physical education specialist. Following that, I joined Foundations for the Future (FFCA) as its first grade 8 core teacher and K-8 physical education specialist. Since that time in 1997, I have served as junior / senior high math teacher, high school leadership teacher, guidance counsellor, associate principal, principal educator, Deputy Superintendent, and now Superintendent and CEO.I\'ve enjoyed working with many outstanding people to help build FFCA from a small charter school serving just over two hundred K-8 students to a charter jurisdiction with 8 campuses and over 4200 students within the city of Calgary. We are a culturally diverse jurisdiction that leverages strong staff leadership to achieve excellence in student academics, character and leadership as well as build effective parental partnerships.I am passionate about supporting the development of students who are able to personally thrive in a changing and challenging world and who are committed to being a positive force in that world. My doctorate studies focussed on examining how we can approach moral education to help students negotiate life\'s complexity given the pluralistic nature of values.I continue to work towards furthering my own learning and developing a greater understanding and wisdom to guide my work to this end and enjoy doing so with people who share my passion.
