As a highly experienced Medicinal Chemist and People manager I have a proven track record of delivering high quality small molecules into clinical testing and as a committed Business Development professional I have significant experience in evaluating and driving external licensing deals across different stages of discovery and clinical development.I currently work within the London Innovation Centre of Johnson & Johnson Innovation with the overall strategic and operational responsibility for the scouting and evaluation of external innovation opportunities aligned to the strategic priorities of the Janssen R&D Discovery, Product Development & Supply function across the EMEA region.I am a highly experienced Medicinal Chemist and People Manager with a proven track record of leading all aspects of medicinal chemistry strategy, design and synthesis to successfully deliver project milestones from HTS to LO, including the delivery of 9 molecules into the clinic. I have used these skills within Business Development / Search & Evaluation roles to proactively scout for in-licensing and collaboration opportunities to support the AstraZeneca Oncology R&D Business Development & Licensing organisation. In this role I have been accountable for leading the scientific evaluation and subsequent diligence for a variety of in-licensing and collaboration opportunities across preclinical and clinical stages. I have previously been Chemistry Laboratory site lead with accountability for the operational and SHE activities for a laboratory of >20 lab-based staff and been involved in the design and planning of new laboratory facilities, including transition planning and laboratory set up. I am a strong communicator with a passion for developing new talent and build strong relationships both within multidisciplinary teams and with external collaboration partners to deliver projects. I have 24 years experience within the Pharmaceutical industry, and >15 years experience of leading the medicinal chemistry delivery for a variety of different Therapy Areas. I have delivered 17 compounds through the internal candidate drug identification milestone (start of GLP toxicology study decision point) and delivered 9 compounds to phase I/II clinical trials. I have a strong track record of using innovative design to deliver novel solutions to resolve compound issues.
