ABOUT KURT ALKSNE
As a senior leader in municipal infrastructure and land development, I bring over two decades of experience delivering complex projects and leading multidisciplinary teams across Western Canada. My career spans municipal governments, consulting firms, and major infrastructure projects, where I’ve provided technical leadership, strategic project management, and business development for water, wastewater, grading & drainage, transportation, and land development initiatives. In my current role at CIMA+, I support the Senior Director of Infrastructure to reduce workload and ensure seamless project delivery, while mentoring junior staff and fostering professional growth. I have been selected for internal leadership development to further strengthen my ability to drive organizational performance, build high-performing teams, and influence strategic decision-making. I have a proven track record of building divisions, securing and delivering high-value projects, and growing client relationships across municipal and private sectors. I leverage technical expertise, operational insight, and strong communication skills to achieve outcomes that balance quality, efficiency, and financial performance. In addition to my professional engineering career, I am a seasoned real estate investor, managing a portfolio of residential properties in Cochrane and Canmore. This experience has honed my operational, financial, and strategic decision-making skills, including property acquisitions, tenant management, budgeting, and vendor coordination—further strengthening my ability to oversee complex projects and teams. Beyond work, I am actively engaged in my community. I served five years on the Cochrane Fire Department and remain a dedicated volunteer, including event director for local celebrations, former charter member of the Rocky Mountain Rotary Club, and coach for youth sports teams including softball, baseball, and high school volleyball. I have also managed recreational leagues. I am a former member of the Men’s Varsity Swim Team at the University of Calgary, where I trained alongside many Olympic athletes. These experiences instilled a high-performance mindset, discipline, and a passion for teamwork that I carry into all aspects of my professional and volunteer endeavors. Passionate about infrastructure, development, and creating opportunities for growth—both within teams and communities—I aim to continue building impactful projects and leading high-performing teams that shape the future of our municipalities and regions.
