ABOUT KURAN BASRA MENG
I am passionate about leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to drive innovation and efficiency within the business landscape. Currently, I am exploring opportunities to integrate AI solutions within general business operations and nuclear-specific challenges. This includes collaborating with external consultants to develop and implement cutting-edge AI solutions, and engaging with regulatory bodies to shape and enhance the business AI governance framework, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and ethical best practices. I am committed to harnessing the power of AI to create sustainable, intelligent solutions that address complex challenges and propel business growth.I am a Chartered Civil Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), and in previous roles have worked on multi-million pound projects with supply chain organisations, utilising NEC3/4 contracts. My work involved performing finite element analyses (FEA) using ANSYS and STAAD.Pro for steel and concrete structures, and developing data handling programmes to manage large data sets for structural design calculations. I am familiar with British Standards, American Concrete Institute Standards, and Eurocode Standards relating to structural design, and have fulfilled my duties as a Designer under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.I have managed teams of experienced and junior engineers, ensuring task delivery and progress monitoring, while regularly reporting to senior management. I am committed to mentoring new apprentices and placement students, and participate in monthly meetings with Civil & Structural Graduate Trainees preparing for their ICE Chartered Professional Review. As a STEM Ambassador, I have taught engineering concepts to primary school students, and strongly believe that this support was vital in sustaining skills and knowledge within the STEM industry.
