My role as Cloud FinOps Analyst consists of working between finance and technical teams to achieve the primary goal of FinOps which is to enable organisations to make informed decisions about their cloud spending. I have experience working with CloudHealth and CloudCheckr and these are some of my key responsibilities listed below which I carry out on a day to day basis:Cost Analysis and Optimisation- Analysing cloud usage and spending patterns- Identifying cost drivers and areas for optimisation- Implementing strategies to reduce unnecessary costs.Collaboration- Facilitating communication between finance, operations, and development teams- Ensuring that financial goals align with technical decisions- Bridging the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholdersReporting and Monitoring- Generating reports on cloud spending and performance- Create custom alerts / policies to notify when thresholds have been exceeded.Policy and Governance- Developing and implementing policies for responsible cloud resource usage- Enforcing governance and compliance related to cloud spending.Continuous Improvement- Iteratively improving processes and strategies based on feedback and changes in cloud usage.Whilst working in a Cloud FinOps role, it has allowed me to builda a combination of financial acumen, cloud technology knowledge, and effective communication skills.
