About Kundan Kumar
I am a Mechanical Engineering graduate from BIT Sindri, currently working as Manager Maintenance at Coal Washery of West Bokaro Division at Tata Steel. I lead and manage maintenance operations for coal beneficiation and associated systems, gaining valuable hands-on experience in industrial operations and reliability improvement.As part of my journey at Tata Steel, I also underwent a Management Trainee Technical program, where I gained a comprehensive understanding of the Raw Material Division. This included visits to underground and open-cast mines, iron ore processing plants and coal washeries to observe field operations firsthand. I developed a strong grasp of the steel-making value chain—from raw material sourcing to final product delivery. During this time, I also completed Excellence in Safety Learning and Development training and built competencies in TQM, Agile methodologies, and project management for effective workflow and system improvements.I actively contributed to student leadership during my college life as the Training and Placement Coordinator, Secretary of General Affairs (Mechanical Engineering Society), and Vice President (Rotaract Club, 2023–24). My experience also includes internships at Tata Steel (Inspire’23) and Byju’s, along with a professional certification in SolidWorks.
