About Kunal Sahasrabuddhe
I am an Applied Scientist at Paradromics, Inc, where I work on the development of microwire electrode arrays for neural recording, and the production of a full system for in-vivo recording of neural activity on a large scale. Prior to this, I did my PhD in Applied Physics at Stanford University, working on using a newly-proposed mechanism called Photon-Enhanced Thermionic Emission (PETE) to convert solar light and heat to useful electrical energy. PETE essentially combines the photovoltaic and thermionic effects, and has the potential to be far more efficient than either of these technologies in stand-alone devices. PETE devices can also be used as topping cycles for new or existing solar-thermal conversion systems to boost the efficiency. Prior to Stanford, I worked for a year at the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), following my undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley. In my free time, I enjoy playing music, dancing, sailing, and windsurfing. I also enjoy working on personal projects that allow me to build things with my hands.
