About Anthony Kumasaka

The past 7 months I have been working as a full stack software engineer at a startup called CourtBuddy in downtown SF. I was the first onsite engineer hire which allowed me the incredible yet challenging opportunity to be responsible for executing the product team’s proposals as well as making key decisions about the stack we used. I displayed a strong work ethic, effective communication skills, and a desire to learn new technologies as I worked with the offsite team in India to transition the current PHP site into a modern Node/React stack. I built new pages and apps emphasizing a pixel perfect replica of the mocks from the design team with the use of CSS, HTML5 and React.js. Without a designated DevOps engineer, I took it upon myself to learn how to create and manage my own AWS EC2 instances, utilizing nginx and apache to successfully host React pages that communicated with php and python backend servers. After we hired another onsite full stack engineer and three software engineer interns I demonstrated exceptional leadership and teamwork in creating and managing our on site team. I was charged with training the interns in React.js, Node.js and various other technologies. I oversaw the team while we developed two patent pending applications one of which that used machine learning to intelligently predict the classification of court cases based on user input. Due to my strong work ethic and ability to work and communicate effectively with others, accompanied with my strong technical skills and ability to learn new technologies efficiently, I am confident I would be a great contributor and team player to your company-Prior to being a software engineer, I was the personal videographer and editor for Grammy nominated artist Ryan Leslie. While touring the world together, we spent a lot of time conceptualizing an application to grow the independent artist. This lead to the creation of SuperPhone – a bidirectional mobile communications application which would later be featured in Forbes(see link below). The creative process and battle of developing an idea into existence, and forging the bridge between conceptualization and a tangible, impactful product made me fall in love with programming. It is my outlet for problem-solving and creative expression. My technical skills and experiences include, but are not limited to JavaScript, React, Redux, Ruby, Rails, HTML, and CSS. Portfolio:
