About Kumar Ishaan
I firmly believe in the potential of AI in improving organizational efficiency and solving critical problems faced by businesses or society in general. ‘Freedom to innovate’ which is an essential aspect of the start-up environment fascinates me. My experience as a structural engineer thus far has often involved developing representative models by estimating certain input variables in the absence of pertinent data. As a graduate student in the field of earthquake engineering, what captivated me most was the adoption of probabilistic frameworks to mitigate damage due to unforeseen events. A bridge designed today is yet to experience an 8.0 magnitude earthquake in 2030; a climber geared to conquer K2 isn’t yet aware of the ice storm set to greet him at the summit. Damage is inevitable in both cases, however, what is controllable is the extent. The uncertainties associated with the frequency and magnitudes of probable hazards necessitate reiterating analyses until the attainment of acceptable levels of risk. In the future, I wish to utilize these skills to assess acceptable levels of business risk and devise strategies to optimize performance based on such evaluations.
