ABOUT KATSIARYNA SHMATSINA

I am a researcher with over 12 years of experience analyzing Belarus, Russia, Eurasia, and broader geopolitical processes, including great-power rivalry and its impact on the world order. My work focuses on foreign policy, security, and disinformation, providing independent analysis, strategic consulting, and expert commentary.As a consultant, I have advised Fortune 500 companies on geopolitical risks and corporate social responsibility in Russia and Eastern Europe. My expertise is sought by policymakers, businesses, and media. I have briefed the U.S. Helsinki Commission on Russia’s military buildup around Ukraine and spoken at institutions such as the Kennan Institute, Georgetown University, and the Harriman Institute at Columbia University. I also deliver guest lectures at NATO School (Oberammergau, Germany) and European University Viadrina.In media, my analysis has been featured on CNBC, Euronews, Al Jazeera, BBC, and Deutsche Welle, and I have been quoted by The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Foreign Policy magazine.I am also the co-host and co-producer of a podcast on Russian foreign policy, security, and ideology, where I lead discussions with experts, including NATO generals and former heads of state.Beyond foreign policy, I am committed to advancing gender equality.
