I love the structure of working within customs and compliance regulations and making sure that my company is profiting from strategic use of trade agreements and tariff classifications. I activelylead cross-functional teams and develop training programs to improve their compliance knowledge and skills, so that all members of my team are operating at a high level of efficiency. I like to dig into ambiguities and resolve problems, and I believe that automation is the saving grace of compliance as it frees up manpower from data entry and manual keying, allowing teams to focus their time oncompliance and customs work.I have progressed through my career to executive positions in compliance and international trade regulations. I have formed relationships with government officials within Canada and abroadand I sit on many government working groups to maintain up-to-date knowledge while offering recommendations and solutions to improve customs and logistics within the food, apparel, healthcare,and general merchandise industries.I thrive on learning and am always looking to grow in this field. I am a Certified Trade Compliance Specialist and a Certified Customs Specialist; I am also working on obtaining my U.S. Certified CustomsSpecialist designation. This industry is dynamic, and by upgrading my skills I can implement strategic initiatives and help to mitigate risks for my company.
