About Kevin Roccapriore
I am an experimental physicist and electron microscopist by trade. My research interests are in artificially engineering materials for desired properties and applications as well as optical effects at the nanoscale.To this end, I use aberration-corrected electron microscopes (STEMs) for advanced characterization (monochromated EELS, 4D-STEM) and intelligently guided intentional sample modification at the single atom level. I use Python programming for analyzing and understanding multidimensional data, as well as for instrument control which allows custom, automatic routines to run, enabling new scientific directions. I also have experience in nanofabrication in a cleanroom environment, optical spectroscopies, machining, and electronics.Bringing these skills together, I have recently pioneered a start-up company, AtomQ, which specializes in developing revolutionary quantum computing hardware (i.e, a platform of qubits).
