My role is crucial in ensuring the smooth supply chain and availability of critical items that support the maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency of Indian Railways.Key Responsibilities:Material Management:Oversee the receipt, inspection, storage, and issue of railway materials, ensuring stock accuracy and proper documentation as per Railway Stores Code.Procurement Coordination:Liaise with procurement departments, suppliers, and zonal headquarters to ensure timely procurement of required items and follow up on outstanding purchase orders.Inventory Control:Monitor stock levels, conduct regular physical verification, and manage reordering processes to prevent stockouts or overstocking.Vendor Management:Communicate with suppliers regarding order status, delivery timelines, and quality issues, ensuring vendor compliance with railway standards.Record Keeping:Maintain accurate records of receipts, issues, stock balances, and scrap disposal in the Indian Railways Inventory Management System (IMMS or similar platforms).Process Compliance:Ensure strict adherence to Indian Railways’ procurement, storage, and disposal policies and procedures.Support to Maintenance Units:Provide timely and uninterrupted supply of materials to carriage, wagon, loco sheds, and other maintenance units to avoid downtime.Reporting:Prepare daily, monthly, and quarterly reports on material movements, stock positions, and pending orders for internal reviews and audits.
