ABOUT KRISTIN M.
I’m a qualitative sociologist with a PhD from UC Davis and over a decade of experience in research, evaluation, and policy analysis. My academic background centers on socio-legal studies and the sociology of family, with a focus on how non-traditional families navigate legal systems through the lens of legal consciousness. Currently, I serve as a Research and Data Specialist II at the California Department of Social Services, where I lead program evaluations and regulatory research to inform statewide child welfare initiatives. My work bridges policy and practice, emphasizing equity-driven, interdisciplinary approaches to complex social challenges. I have extensive experience conducting qualitative research, developing case review methodologies, and translating findings for diverse audiences, including government agencies, tribal partners, nonprofit leaders, and academic stakeholders.
