The mission of the Honorary Commanders Program is twofold; one, to educate key communityleaders about a unit’s mission and to foster a supportive relationship with the community,increase military involvement in civic endeavors and organizations and make members of thelocal community feel part of the unit. The Air Force has a responsibility to establish and maintain personal contact with localcivic leaders in order to increase public awareness of the missions, policies, and programsof the United States Air Force and an understanding of the Department of Defense. Thegoal is to partner with members of the local community while exposing them to themissions of the armed services. The Honorary Commander\'s Program is an Air Forceprogram that can be used to meet this objective and the intent is to create one-on-oneopportunities to inform and educate local community leaders about the missions of theUnited States Air Force and your Air Force Base
