About Kristina Marshall
Since 1998, Kristina has advanced Winning Futures to be a top-rate school-based mentoring program. As the first mentee in the program in 1994, Kris has made the organization her life\'s mission. With degrees from Michigan Technological University (B.S. in Business) and Oakland University (M.A. in Educational Leadership), Kris has raised $13M, the program has impacted over youth, it has been deemed as an evidence-based program, and she has grown Winning Futures to have a national impact through their award-winning life skills mentoring curriculum. She is a motivational speaker, co-author of four books, the previous Chair of the Mentor Michigan Providers Council, and past President in Detroit for the Entrepreneurs\' Organization (EO). Kris has won over 10 professional awards including 2015 Career Mastered: Women’s Leadership in Action Award, Michigan Technological University’s 2012 Outstanding Young Alumni Award, and Crain’s Detroit Business’ 40 under 40 award in 2008. In June 2014, SUCCESS Magazine highlighted Kris for her leadership skills and growth of Winning Futures Kris has been married to her high school sweetheart, Duane, for 18 years and they have an amazing son. Winning Futures, Crain\'s Detroit Business 2013 Best-managed Nonprofit, is an award-winning 501(c)(3) organization that empowers youth to succeed through mentoring and strategic planning. Through school-based mentoring in metro Detroit, we transform high school students into becoming employable, productive adults. We help them see the path to a purposeful career and assist them in creating the road map to get there. A study of our surveyed graduates shows that over 95% continued their education past high school and 96% are employed.Throughout the country, other non-profits and schools implement the evidence-based Winning Futures life skills and strategic planning curriculum. Since 1994, we have impacted students and awarded over $1.8M in scholarships.
