About Kristin Ackerman
Proactive Higher Education Administrator with exceptional ability to lead with vision, empathy, and high level executive function to shape individualized student development, promote URM in STEM, and foster teams with forward-thinking goals. It is my educational philosophy that a student first mind-set rooted in the liberal arts is a highly transferable thought process that will shape our future workforce leaders to be engaged, compassionate, and civically responsible citizens. Helping others work to recognize and work in their strengths builds innovation. My broad scope of training in medical sciences and human biology has not only permeated my teaching, scholarship, and service to High Point University, but has allowed me to seek, excel, and bring expertise to leadership roles within HPU. I have intentionally made decisions at High Point University to shape and foster the healthcare sciences profile. My choices have always been student-focused by fostering strong mentorship, generating challenging and thought-provoking courses, co-directing important programing aimed at improved retention of URM in STEM, developing new academic programs in Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences, and now Dental Medicine. It is a privilege to be working with brilliant colleagues to build the first fully integrated curriculum of its kind in dental education. It’s been such a pleasure watching our inaugural cohort blossom and thrive in our student first culture.
