About Kristen Mallia
I am an interdisciplinary artist based in Boston, MA. My work examines ritual, collection, and preservation through material and process-based investigation. Interested in the relationship between identity and geography, my work centers on the placed-based nature of memory. Self-publishing is an important part of my studio practice;\"Field Notes (The_Index_Project)\" is how I document, supplement, archive, and iterate between concepts of display and distribution.My studio, Mallia Design, provides creative direction and design services for small businesses, restaurants, artists, and galleries in the Boston area. Clients include Midway Gallery, Montserrat Art Galleries, and Paris Restaurant Group.I am an Assistant Professor of Art & Design at Suffolk University. I have previously taught at Boston University, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts.
