About Kristen Harmon
My professional experience includes writing, editing, communications content development, management and disseminations, and nearly 30 years of experience in higher education in the midwest and on the east coast. Currently, I have two roles at Gallaudet University: as a publishing and digital communications specialist/senior advisor at Gallaudet University Press (2025-present) and as a professor of English at Gallaudet I publish both scholarly and creative writing and teach social media content strategy, rhetoric and public/professional writing, creative writing, literary/cultural theory and methodologies, narrative analytic methodologies, and literature. I served as interim Director of Gallaudet University from Jan-Aug. 2025, and am currently a publishing and digital communications specialist and senior advisor for GU Press (Aug. 2025-present). As Communications and Disseminations Manager (20••••13) for the National Science Foundation Science of Learning Center on Visual Language and Visual Learning (VL2), I wrote, edited, developed a range of products for general audiences on multiple platforms (social, digital, print, and video).
