ABOUT KRISTEN CONLIFFE
I am a passionate 4th-year Communication Studies major at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo! I am also pursuing minors in Media Arts, Society, & Technology (MAST), as well as Gender, Race, Culture, Science, & Technology (GRCST). I thrive at the intersection of creativity and communication. I have grown a passion for media communication, including film production and post-production, music marketing, photography, social media, and creative strategy. I’m fascinated by how media and technology shape the way we connect with one another, and I’m eager to use my skills to create meaningful messages and connections.I am looking for hands-on experience to further develop my skills and connect with others. I have always seen myself working on projects where I can apply my communication and media art skills, as well as collaborate with teams to fully encapsulate creative potential. With additional interests in activism and social justice, backed by my GRCST minor courses and community service work, I am always eager to find ways to incorporate this passion into my professional life as well.I gained valuable experience through my Creative & Marketing internship with Universal Music Group\'s Mercury Records in Los Angeles, and am seeking the sense of excitement I felt in this role as I explore career paths. As a podcast producer/host for Cal Poly\'s radio station, KCPR, the VP of the Mustang Film Society, and through my MAST minor courses, I have gained hands-on experience in video and photo production and editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Lightroom, which is directly applicable to my interests. I further volunteered as a teacher at an English school while studying abroad in Sevilla, Spain, where I developed strategies to communicate with and teach Spanish-speaking children, teaching me a lot about interpersonal and intercultural communication. With these skills and experiences, in addition to my drive toward pursuing my passions and learning more, I am thrilled to grow professionally on this journey!
