ABOUT KRISTEN DAY
Kristen Day is the Disaster Resiliency Manager at United Way Worldwide. In this position, Kristen seeks to strengthen the resiliency of the United Way Network in face of environmental and man-made disasters. Through a combination of real-time support, best-practice-sharing and forward-looking resource development, Kristen encourages local United Ways to leverage their adaptability to meet community needs after a disaster. Prior to UWW, Kristen conducted research under Dr. Siders at the University of Delaware’s Disaster Research Center. Through her research on climate refugees, climate migration, federal adaptation law and municipal wetland regulation, Kristen learned about the interconnectedness between disasters, climate change and civil and political society. As part of a global organization, Kristen leverages her experience as a United States Department of State Critical Language Scholar (2021, Turkish), a University of Delaware World Scholar (20••••22) and a U.S. Department of State Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Scholar (20••••17). Kristen Day has an Honors B.A. with Distinction from the University of Delaware in International Relations and German Studies. Kristen Day is an Air Force military spouse serving on the Vance Spouses Club as a board member and currently lives in Oklahoma with her husband and dog.
